Salary
The hourly wage for this position ranges from $23.60 to $26.00 and varies based on specific responsibilities and geographic location. Starting hourly rate within this range will be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and/or skillset.
Summary
Role is responsible for managing the shipping process of critical finished goods. The individual will help manage the larger LTL and full truck outbound shipments to customers and Signode affiliates, construct custom crates and pallets to ship items worldwide, and operate forklift and crane equipment. Fork truck and crane certification (training provided), pneumatic staple
ail gun, circular saw, and familiarity with lumber are required.
Essential Functions
Good communication skills with internal and external customers.
Fabricate wooden crates, pallets, or boxes using woodworking hand tools and power tools; pack and prepare items such as machinery, strapping heads and other large or odd-shaped products for shipment.
Read shipping notices and specifications, inspect products prior to shipping.
Transport large machines throughout the warehouse using forklift truck.
Work closely with manager and Supply Chain to prioritize shipments.
Control inventory of crating materials—such as pallets, lumber, building supplies, etc.
Follow company policies and all safety rules.
Keep work area clean and organized.
Read and understand the different types of customer orders, including customer number, purchase order number, ship-to address, bill-to address, routing, print date and time, comments, line item number, part description, location, quantity ordered, quantity shipping, and quantity backordered.
Know the different requirements for various shipping priorities—expedited, international, domestic, distributors, servicemembers, and tool repair center customers.
Provide office personnel with accurate dimensions and weight for all LTL and truckload orders.
Consolidate outgoing orders according to ship schedule.
Sign off on incoming freight as needed.
Load and unload freight as needed.
Utilize pallet jacks or drive forklifts for routine daily work.
Qualifications
Education:
A high school diploma (or GED) is required.
Experience:
2-3 years of experience in a similar role; wood‑working experience and ability to build custom crates; working knowledge of hand and power tools; basic understanding of computer, UPS WorldShip, FedEx, DHL websites; ERP systems experience is a plus; forklift experience is a plus—must be able to drive a forklift after training.
