Job Description
Our fast-growing, nine-attorney family law litigation firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney (1–3 years of experience) to join our dynamic team. Our office is located in Chicago’s vibrant River North neighborhood, just steps from the Brown Line L stop.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated attorney who wants meaningful courtroom experience, hands-on client contact, and the ability to grow within a collaborative, high-performing firm. We are a litigation-focused practice built on strategic thinking, strong advocacy, and exceptional client service.
The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of family law litigation experience and is eager to develop as a courtroom advocate. You should be comfortable managing an active caseload with appropriate supervision, working closely with colleagues and support staff, and maintaining a high level of professionalism with clients and opposing counsel.
Strong writing, organization, and communication skills are essential, along with sound judgment and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Manage family law cases from inception through resolution (settlement or trial)
Draft pleadings, motions, judgments, settlement agreements, discovery, and pretrial memoranda
Appear in court (in person and via Zoom)
Conduct and respond to discovery
Communicate regularly with clients to explain strategy and guide decision-making
Participate in consultations with prospective new clients
Maintain case deadlines and manage workflow effectively
Qualifications
Licensed and in good standing with the Illinois Bar
1–3 years of family law litigation experience preferred
Courtroom experience strongly preferred
Proficiency in legal research (Westlaw preferred)
Strong oral advocacy and legal writing skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple active cases
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Experience with Clio is a plus
