We are seeking an experienced
Cloud EHS Data Center Colo Operations Specialist
for this
onsite role (in West Jordan, UT, Chandler, AZ, Elk Grove, IL, Dallas, TX, or Ashburn, VA)
to lead the implementation of a comprehensive safety program for data center colocations operations. This role involves creating and customizing EHS program documentation, including policies and procedures tailored to the unique challenges of operating data centers. The ideal candidate will have expertise in key safety areas such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash, contractor safety, working at heights, material handling, noise, and heat management, ensuring compliance with local and international standards while fostering a culture of safety.
Responsibilities
Implement an EHS safety program for operating data centers, addressing key operational risks and hazards.
Develop and customize program documentation, including policies, procedures, training materials, and compliance checklists.
Ensure all policies and procedures comply with local, national, and international regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, ISO 45001).
Collaborate with site‑level staff and contractors to roll out the safety program.
Partner with operations, engineering, and facilities management teams to embed safety practices into daily workflows and operational protocols.
Develop tools and resources to support the implementation and monitoring of EHS policies.
Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for data center operations, tailoring safety policies to address site‑specific risks.
Lead regular reviews of safety practices to ensure alignment with regulatory changes and industry best practices.
Establish and maintain metrics to track program compliance and effectiveness at the site level.
Develop comprehensive training programs for employees, contractors, and vendors, ensuring they understand and comply with safety protocols.
Deliver training sessions, toolbox talks, and workshops to reinforce safety policies and best practices.
Foster a culture of safety through ongoing communication, engagement, and recognition of EHS excellence.
Analyze safety performance data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring the safety program evolves to meet emerging risks and technologies.
Collaborate in the implementation of the corporate sustainability program.
Act as a liaison to ensure compliance with the corporate business continuity program.
Provide input and guidance for Global EHS programs.
Collaborate in the creation of the annual EHS budget for the local site(s).
Have responsibility for regulatory reporting to federal, state, and local agencies as the need arises.
Preferred Qualifications
7+ years of EHS experience, with a focus on developing safety programs in data center environments.
In‑depth knowledge of EHS regulations and standards, including OSHA, NFPA 70E (Arc Flash), ISO 45001, and local regulations across different regions.
Expertise in key safety areas: LOTO, Arc Flash, working at heights, material handling, noise, and heat management.
Hands‑on experience in data center operations or similar mission‑critical environments.
Proficiency in EHS management systems, auditing processes, and performance tracking tools.
Ability to develop and implement initiatives.
BA/BS in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental, Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering/Management, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred.
Analytical mindset with a focus on problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
Able to work independently with attention to detail.
