
Estimation Engineer

The Applications Engineer will be reviewing customer RFQs, evaluating manufacturability, and preparing accurate, competitive quotations for precision medical and regulated manufacturing projects. Key Responsibilities
Review customer drawings, specifications, and RFQs to assess manufacturability, risk, and cost drivers
Interpret blueprints and GD&T to support accurate quoting decisions
Enter and maintain accurate quote data in the ERP system
Engage directly with customers to clarify technical requirements and answer manufacturing questions
Apply practical manufacturing judgment to evaluate CNC machining processes and required outside services
Recognize when secondary processes such as heat treatment, passivation, electropolishing, coatings, or stress relieving apply
Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and support staff during quote development and project handoff
Use ERP systems and standard business tools (Microsoft Office) to support quoting and documentation
Utilize CAD tools (SolidWorks or similar) as needed for drawing review and manufacturability assessment
Key Requirements
Hands on experience in precision machining or manufacturing environments
Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and general manufacturing workflows
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
Technical foundation sufficient to evaluate manufacturability, cost drivers, and risk
Strong communication skills and a willingness to engage customers and internal teams
Nice to Have
Exposure to regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., medical devices, ISO 13485)
Awareness of secondary processes such as heat treat, passivation, electropolishing, coatings, or stress relieving
Experience with ERP systems
Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks
Background as a machinist, CNC programmer, manufacturing or applications engineer
