Description
Incumbent must understand concepts of the physics of ultrasound, demonstrates advanced knowledge of full range of echocardiographic procedures, cardiac anatomy and physiology with a thorough understanding of cardiac abnormalities and disease processes. Performs 3D echocardiography, strain imaging and applies advanced cardiac ultrasound imaging techniques as assigned or per protocol. Follows established imaging protocols and modifies the examination accordingly to ensure complete accurate high quality cardiac echo information is obtained.
Perform diagnostic recordings, accurate measurements and calculations of echocardiography images and Doppler hemodynamic data (at rest and with stress), with or without ultrasound enhancement agents. Following policy guidelines, sonographers will identify patients requiring enhancement agents, place peripheral intravenous catheters and administer ultrasound enhancement agents. Sonographers may be required to perform other non-invasive cardiovascular tests including ECG, ambulatory ECG, blood pressures, ambulatory blood pressures and treadmill stress tests. Contributes to work organization and scheduling as a member of a self-directed work team.
Participates in the training of cardiac sonographers, students, residents and fellows in echocardiography as assigned. Participates in personnel selection, may be assigned to review studies, train and direct junior level sonographers in new techniques under direction of technical director. Able to work independently and prioritize tasks needing completion. Positive communication and listening skills are important. Floats to labs in other clinic locations as needed. May need to work various shifts including nights and weekends. Required to take call after hours and/or on weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of a school of an accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Medical Sonography program or equivalent years of experience. CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS (RCS).
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Four years of relevant experience (for Principal level) OR equivalent combination of sonography education and experience.
Ability to place IVs. (Training provided)
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Registered Cardiac Sonographer issued by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
Adult Congenital and Pediatric experience strongly preferred.
Special Conditions
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Capability to perform on-call including weekend when required.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment
Pay Transparency
Annual Full Pay Range: $136,743 - $170,068 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $65.49 - $81.45
