Position Overview
Position is hired as a full time Hyde County employee, reporting to the Hyde County Health Department, earning Hyde County fringe benefits, but providing services on Hyde County school campuses: Mattamuskeet School on the Hyde County mainland and Ocracoke School on the island, which is accessible only by ferry.
Responsibilities
The therapist will complete screenings, evaluations, and individual assessments to inform diagnosis and treatment planning for children and adolescents in the school setting. They will provide individual and small-group psychotherapy, as well as crisis intervention, to support students’ emotional well-being and academic success. The therapist will collaborate with families, demonstrate cultural competence, and work with students who may present complex or severe needs. The therapist will also work collaboratively to implement school-based mental health programming and participate in multidisciplinary meetings with school staff and community partners.
Work Schedule
Hours are primarily Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with one hour for lunch.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of social work or counseling experience as required by the North Carolina Social Work and Licensure Board.
Candidate must be fully paneled with leading health insurance companies and Medicaid prepaid health plans.
