Water Jet Operator
The Water Jet Operator’s duties include: Process material according to the work order specifications; ensure that processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition; maintain processing area in a clean, safe and orderly manner; complete all required information entry accurately; perform any other tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

Program cutting paths using CAD/CAM software

Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine specifications

Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment

Pull, inspect and verify product before processing

Properly and safely set up equipment to run material to work order specifications

Process orders according to work order specifications

Verify that material meets work order specifications per written work instructions and record measurements (sampling plan)

Perform equipment preventive maintenance

Properly enter/delete material identification tags per written instructions

Perform general clean-up

Assist in the packaging of material per written work instructions and work order

Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition

Properly operate weighing scale and record inspection measurements

Identify, record, and segregate scrap and any non-conforming material

Assist in any activities related to lean and/or quality.

Required Qualifications

A high school diploma/GED

2 years of experience in metals industry preferred, industrial warehouse experience preferred

Strong math skills, experience working with fractions and decimals

Machine operator experience for a minimum of two years

Ability to read a tape measure and calipers

Basic knowledge of computer systems and data entry, SAP Experience preferred

Ability to operate side loaders, vacuum lifts, cranes and forklifts; forklift certified

Ability to operator Amat wire, Shelling saws, Bearing and Tsune circular sawing machines

Ability to lift 70 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

Arrange the machine & inspect the following: nozzle size, nozzle perpendicularity, table set-up, abrasive hopper and metering disk flow rate, material levelness

Intermediate understanding of 2D Computer Aided Drawings (CAD)

Use gauges, calipers, squares or rulers for measurement.

Determine processing specifications such as materials, location of cutting lines, dimensions, tolerances and operational sequences

Review work orders, tooling instructions or other written specifications.

Install and align specified cutting blades or other fixtures in machine bed using gauges, templates, feelers, shims or hand tools

Adjust controls to set cutting speed, depth and feed rates.

Diagnose problems and makes necessary adjustments.

Coordinate and executes material handling to be processed including operation of a forklift.

Examine finished work pieces for conformance to quality standards.

Completes work order paperwork/documentation.

Restocks material.

Train new water jet operators.

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Education and Experience

Relevant: 2 year (Preferred)

CNC Operator: 1 year (Preferred)

High School or equivalent (Required)

Forklift experience (Required)

Set up 3 and 5 axis waterjet machines.

Help maintain shop equipment and working areas.

Must be organized and can maintain focus with multiple tasks.

Must have exceptional math skills.

Be able to use calipers, micrometers, gauges and read mechanical drawings.
