Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Coding Specialist I, Diagnostic Radiology

Role Overview

Review and code radiology encounters using ICD-10, CPT-4, and MSK's Epic workflows.
Work daily in Epic work queues, including edit queues and follow‑up queues, ensuring timely resolution.
Use Code Assist AI tools to enhance accuracy, speed, and consistency of coding.
Extract clinical information from reports, imaging documentation, and medical records with required specificity.
Identify discrepancies, correct coding errors, and support clean claim submission.
Meet established productivity targets (e.g., ~150 cases/day depending on case mix) and quality standards.
Collaborate with QA, physicians, and management to resolve issues and optimize coding processes.
Prepare and update productivity reports and case logs as required.
Participate in audits, special projects, and ongoing training to maintain coding knowledge and compliance.
Key Qualifications

CPC, CCS, CCSP, or other applicable coding certification required.
Experience in medical coding with strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT‑4.
Radiology coding experience.
Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting.
Familiarity with Epic coding workflows, work queues, or similar EMR systems.
Ability to learn radiology‑specific coding; prior radiology experience preferred.
Strong understanding of payer rules, documentation standards, and coding compliance.
Core Skills

High attention to detail with strong commitment to coding accuracy and quality.
Ability to work efficiently in high‑volume environments with defined productivity expectations.
Strong analytical thinking for identifying errors, reviewing edits, and resolving coding discrepancies.
Effective communicator who collaborates well with clinical, billing, and QA partners.
Additional Information

Location: 99% remote with flexibility to come on site 1–2× a year in NYC.
Schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday.
Reporting to Manager II, Health Information Management.
Compensation Philosophy

Pay Range: $35.59 – $55.18 FSLA Status: Non‑Exempt
