Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Job Description:
Insight Global is seeking a
Jr. Party Chief
for a top utility construction and infrastructure client in the Stafford, VA area. This is a 100% field-based opportunity ideal for an experienced Instrument Person who wants to grow into a leadership role. The individual will receive hands‑on training and quickly progress into running a crew, supporting fiber and utility installation projects. This role offers less intensive survey work than traditional boundary or construction stakeout roles, focusing on straightforward 2D mapping and field execution. Once promoted to Party Chief, this individual will have the opportunity to take a company vehicle home, making this a long‑term growth‑oriented role with strong work‑life balance.
Must-Haves:
2+ years of hands‑on experience using GPS survey equipment
Valid driver’s license
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs over uneven terrain
Experience operating survey instruments (GPS, conventional equipment, computers/software)
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Strong communication skills and ability to work on a small crew
Desire to grow into a leadership/Party Chief role
Willingness to travel overnight as needed
Plusses:
Experience with conventional survey equipment (Total Station)
Experience reading and interpreting plats and deeds
Strong field note documentation and basic in‑field calculations
Prior experience training or mentoring junior survey staff
Background in utility, fiber, or infrastructure‑related surveying
Day-to-Day:
Perform field surveying using GPS equipment (control, topo, easements, ROW staking)
Occasional use of Total Station equipment
Support utility and fiber installation projects (trenches, underground work)
Maintain and transport survey equipment and supplies
Work daily with a small field crew after morning office meet‑up
Receive hands‑on training from a field trainer (~6 weeks, depending on experience)
Progress into leading a crew and training new instrument operators
Complete timesheets and brief check‑ins with supervisors in the office
