Northern California-Sierra's (NCS) Wastewater Practice Leader

Brown and Caldwell (BC) has an exciting opportunity as the NCS Wastewater Practice Leader to help grow our wastewater clients and projects. The Area Practice Leader (APL) will be responsible for driving growth in the Wastewater Practice to advance the NCS Area's strategic goals and lead major wastewater projects while ensuring exceptional client service.
The APL is a key member of the wastewater team driving the practice growth within the NCS geography. In this role, you will also be responsible for understanding the unique trends in your area and use that knowledge to create technical differentiation from our competitors, while serving as an important conduit between the Wastewater Practice and the Business Unit.
Responsibilities

Develop and drive Area practice strategy: collaborate with the RPL, Practice, and BU Leaders to develop and grow wastewater strategy in the Area; analyze market trends, competition, clients, and opportunities; align with BU and National Practice strategies; participate in annual business planning.
Drive external visibility and brand projection within the Area: charter teams to represent BC's Wastewater brand at conferences, seminars, workshops, client meetings, and facilitate team member visibility.
Drive business development based on client-specific needs and opportunities: coordinate with the RPL, Area operations, growth leads, and Client Service Teams to identify opportunities and improve awareness of solutions that resonate.
Build capacity for quality delivery: inform needs, recruit, and develop staff; coordinate with the Practice to drive talent strategy and support current and future growth.
Bring technical advantage to sales process: participate in go
o‑go decisions to maintain alignment with strategy and resource prioritization; engage technical resources to identify efficiencies and client‑centric solutions; inform project org charts.
Desired Skills and Experience

B.S. or M.S. in engineering or related field (required).
Professional registration preferred.
Minimum 10 years of increasing responsibility in environmental services, water utility, and/or consulting (required).
Outstanding communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.
Business acumen to guide decisions on assignments of personnel and technical approaches.
Experience guiding technical strategy for large project portfolios and aligning key differentiators.
Up to 30% travel.
Salary Range:

$174,000 - $238,000 (Location C). Salary may vary by experience and education.
