Sr Lab Technician 1 (Tues-Fri 4:45am-1:15pm)
The Sr Lab Technician is responsible for the timely, efficient, and accurate processing of products in the lab. A Sr Lab Technician is a cross‑trained, multifunctional position with secondary‑level training to enable performing additional essential functions beyond those noted within the Lab Technician training. The Sr Lab Technician will be assigned one essential function, with the predominant portion of their daily work schedule spent on that function and will also perform work in additional essential functions as business needs dictate.
Essential Functions (As Applicable Per Lab/Department)
Place optical lenses into various eyeglass frame types
Manually operate optical machinery from set‑up to shutdown with minimal errors
Train other co‑workers in Shipping, Picking, Receiving, and Tracing departments
Inspect optical lenses using a lensometer while following ANSI standards for glasses
Match optical lenses to the order tray and check optical lenses for any blemishes or defects
Trace eyeglass frames and optical lenses, and remove and dot up optical lenses for orders requiring grooves
Print and sort job tickets, and verify job information before moving job into picking
Place uncut optical lenses in appropriate trays; pick optical lenses, scan and verify jobs, and de‑box and label optical lenses in preparation for production
Sort truck and receive all eyeglass frames; print and pull Medicaid eyeglass frames
Invoice at expected pace and package all accounts; sort and bin dynamic and static jobs, execute multiple tasks, and consolidate
Complex eyeglass frame assembly (drill/shelf/wood); complete specialty optical lens work (tinting, rolling and polishing lenses), and specialty eyeglass frame work (wood frames, sports frames, safety frames, and drill mounts)
Clean and maintain fixtures required for lens processing; build strip and dip runs
Ability to run the highest volume machines in the chamber room
Perform and comply with all job functions according to documented standard operating procedures
Meet or exceed established performance thresholds in all core and secondary job functions
Report all known products, processes, and or reporting defects and inefficiencies to supervisory personnel
Participate in team, department, and company‑wide meetings as scheduled; actively provide feedback to maintain and improve the work environment
Ensure that the work area is clean and organized and prepared for the next shift with all items in their designated locations
Utilize proper handling techniques and equipment to minimize damage and injuries
Follow and uphold all OSHA and company safety guidelines, policies, and regulations
Ability to work overtime as business needs dictate
Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
Ability to follow procedure and contribute as an individual and a team member
Computer literate
Sr Lab Technician I: At least one (1) year of optical manufacturing experience as well as training to enable employees to perform the minimum essential functions identified by their respective lab/department
Sr Lab Technician II: Minimum of one (1) year and six (6) months in Senior Lab Technician role (or similar position) prior to skills assessment to determine ability to perform all applicable essential functions identified by their respective lab/department
Desired Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds (safety/weight belt provided, if requested). Specific vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required.
Work Environment

Travel for this position would be minimal if at all.

Anticipated base pay range: $17.25 + $2.00 shift differential
Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan.
