
Concrete Finisher

Responsibilities
Cut, fit, and join construction materials
Use floats, trowels, and screeds to level concrete
Operate power construction equipment
Plan, lay‑out, and use appropriate power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble, and install forms, rebar, embeds, and anchor bolts
Construct built‑in‑place or prefabricated wooden and metal forms according to specifications for molding concrete structures
Erect built‑in‑place forms or assemble and install prefabricated forms
Insert spreaders and tie‑rods between opposite pieces to maintain specific dimensions
Anchor and brace forms to fixed objects using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, and timber
Place concrete into forms and finish according to specified textures
Vibrate, level, smooth, and shape surface of concrete
Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammer
Patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound
Follow jobsite safety regulations and keep the work area safe and clean; identify, eliminate, and minimize hazards
Work cooperatively with the Superintendent, Foreman, and subcontractors at all times
Finish tasks on time and produce high‑quality work
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in commercial concrete finishing
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Ability to obtain and maintain military base access
Comprehension of safety standards, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to understand information, ideas, direction and execute tasks or projects discussed
Own tools and equipment: tool belt containing tape measure, hammer, pencil, utility knife, torpedo level, speed square, crescent wrench, chalk line, cold and wood chisels, lineman pliers, small sledgehammer, magnesium float, steel trowel, margin trowel, darby, and steel‑toe boots
Physical Demands
Ability to work overhead, use hands to grasp, reach with arms, and maneuver in confined areas
Repeated stooping, kneeling, squatting, crawling, and twisting through the workday and week
Frequent lifting and/or pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds to 50 feet, and up to 30 pounds to 3 feet off the ground
Occasional lifting/pushing/pulling approximately 112 pounds to 25 feet, or to a surface 12 inches off the ground
Repeated operation of a 12‑lb sledgehammer throughout the entire workday and week
Climbing up and down a 6‑foot step ladder and maintaining balance
Work up to a 12‑hour shift in all weather and temperature extremes
Vision adequate to perform all tasks
Work Environment
Employee must wear personal protective equipment as needed
Regular exposure to noise, dust, and various types of smells
Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
Exposure to wet, hot, humid conditions, high precarious places, and outside weather conditions
Work in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean work area
