
Urban Planner
Mosman Park, Midland, WA, United States
We are currently seeking a qualified and motivated Urban Planner to join our Community Planning and Place team. This is an ideal opportunity for a planning professional with experience in statutory and/or strategic planning who wants to make a difference in a collaborative, community-focused environment.
As an Urban Planner, you will manage a variety of planning applications and provide professional advice on planning matters across the Town. You will contribute to statutory and strategic planning projects, assist with policy development and Council reports, and engage regularly with developers, internal teams, and community members.
You will help shape the Town’s future through local planning framework initiatives, Council briefings, and stakeholder engagement. Attendance at panels, meetings, and site inspections will also be part of your role.
Skills & Experience
Tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or related field
Eligibility for membership of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA)
Working knowledge of WA’s planning framework including the R-Codes
Demonstrated experience in statutory or strategic planning (local government experience desirable)
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
High-level organisational and time management skills
A collaborative approach with well-developed interpersonal skills
A commitment to customer service, continuous improvement, and best‑practice planning
