Overview
A growing apparel company is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Designer to support the development of high-quality women’s products. This role is responsible for translating creative concepts into production-ready garments through precise technical specifications, fit execution, and cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and product lifecycle management, along with the ability to problem-solve and maintain brand standards throughout development.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Development

Create and maintain comprehensive tech packs, including sketches, measurements, grading, and construction details

Develop and document BOMs, packaging specifications (care/content labels, carton markings, fold/hanger packs, UPCs, etc.)

Fit & Garment Construction

Lead and participate in fit sessions on live models

Evaluate fit and communicate adjustments to ensure design integrity, comfort, and functionality

Sample & Production Review

Partner with pattern makers and manufacturers to review prototypes and pre-production samples

Ensure all samples meet fit, quality, and design standards

Problem Solving

Identify and resolve construction and development issues throughout the product lifecycle

Provide solutions that balance aesthetic, functional, and cost considerations

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with design, product development, and production teams

Ensure alignment with brand standards, timelines, and cost targets

Materials & Construction Expertise

Apply knowledge of fabrics, trims, and garment construction techniques to support product intent

Quality Assurance

Support the development and enforcement of quality standards

Ensure consistency in durability, comfort, and overall product performance

Qualifications
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field

Experience

3–5 years of technical design experience within the apparel industry

Experience with women’s products required; outerwear or activewear experience is a plus

Technical Skills

Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and CAD software

Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern-making, and fit analysis

Core Competencies

High attention to detail, especially in measurements and grading

Strong communication skills for cross-functional and vendor collaboration

Proactive problem-solving and analytical thinking

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
