Automated Equipment Technician
Department Overview
Kokosing is one of the largest equipment owners in the nation and an industry leader for equipment management. Behind that fleet are several skilled groups working to purchase, maintain, repair and customize equipment allowing us to remain on the cutting edge. One of these includes the Automated Equipment Group, this specialized team manages Kokosing's 3D and survey solutions. This includes grade control systems on various equipment including dozers, excavators, concrete equipment and more. The team also supports Kokosing's survey equipment, including rovers, total stations, scanners, layout robots and even automated structural monitoring.
Duties and Responsibilities
Consistently maintain safe work procedures and habits
Bring a positive attitude and contribute to the team's success
Diagnose/Repair grade control systems on equipment
Perform 3D system installs and measure ups
Keep detailed records during repairs or installs including asset numbers, serial numbers, parts numbers etc
Travel - this group supports Kokosing projects in all market regions. Overnight stays and occasional extended stays should be expected
Train job site personnel on survey or grade control systems
Communicate over the phone with users and diagnose problems using remote support technology
Stringless concrete paving support - i.e. total station setup and checking grade
Education and Experience
Minimum associate's degree preferred
(4+) years similar construction experience, using or managing 3D technology
Roadway/Highway experience is a plus
Mechanical experience is a strong plus
Skills and Abilities
Understand and interpret safety laws and company policies/standards
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Basic computer skills
Thorough understanding of elevations, grades, offsets
Ability to adapt to changing situations & tasks
Efficient and effective problem solving
Regularly required to stand/walk on uneven ground
Regularly lift / move / carry 25lbs, occasionally up to 50lbs
Field position - regularly working outside, occasionally poor conditions, rain/snow
