Summary:

As the Senior Manager of Hardware Design Engineering (Thermal), you will lead a world‑class team in developing cutting‑edge cooling solutions for AI servers, switches, and accelerators. You will partner with cross‑functional architects to define best‑in‑class products while pushing the boundaries of thermal technology. Leveraging your expertise in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and 3D simulation, you will transition concepts from initial schematics through to rigorous testing and full‑scale manufacturing. By integrating feedback from supply chain and reliability experts, you’ll ensure our high‑performance systems are as robust as they are innovative.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects across multiple domains and participate in project planning and scheduling.

Take responsibility for non‑technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials, etc.).

Review and interpret customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contract.

Analyze trade‑offs in complex systems and recommend solutions; develop deployment strategies and plans.

Lead the deployment of strategic complex programs and coordinate site‑wide deployment efforts.

May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.

Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems.

Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs.

Create designs in line with Celestica’s procedures, regulations and customer standards.

Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations.

Solve complex problems.

Liaise with suppliers, customers, contractors and other internal teams.

Recommend system modifications.

Set yearly plans and goals for the department, give direction on expected performance, provide regular performance evaluations and ongoing feedback, and be accountable for all department objectives and achieving agreed targets for key performance indicators.

Analyze and interpret data and information.

Calculate factors such as tolerance, dimensions, and thermal and structural analysis.

Knowledge; Skills and Competencies

Strong user of Flotherm as a CFD analysis tool; transient analysis experience is a plus.

Expertise in various heat sinks, heat pipe, vapor chamber design/selection, liquid cooling or other advanced cooling technology.

In‑depth experience in various fan speed control methodologies and over‑temperature protection mechanisms.

Expertise with thermal measurement technology and test tools such as temperature data loggers, IR cameras, wind tunnels, air‑speed meters, etc.

Advanced knowledge of mechanical design tools such as Pro/E.

Advanced knowledge of server/storage/switch system architecture.

Broad knowledge of industry standards including SBB, NEBS, GR‑63, ASHRAE TC‑9.9, etc.

Physical Demands

Performed in a normal office environment.

May require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or detailed data.

Repetitive manual movements such as data entry, using a computer mouse, calculator, etc., are frequently required.

Occasional travel may be required.

Typical Experience

10+ years of experience with thermal design and simulation.

4+ years of managerial or leadership experience.

Highly self‑motivated with a strong multidisciplinary background.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Successful track record bringing products to market.

Typical Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred but not required.
