Overview
The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for supporting day‑to‑day production activities by providing clear updates to line leads and engineers on build status, issues, and corrective actions. The role identifies problems, recommends improvements, and assists with modifying procedures to improve equipment operation and manufacturing processes. The technician is also responsible for accurate documentation related to materials, parts, drawings, and production activities. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technician who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, enjoys working with complex electromechanical systems, and values strong communication and teamwork. The position offers opportunities to expand electromechanical skills and support new product introductions in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide regular updates to line leads and engineering teams on work status, issues, and improvement recommendations
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, test, facilities, and hydraulic systems, components, and equipment
Apply non‑standard testing techniques when standard procedures do not fully meet testing needs
Verify proper calibration and condition of tools and test equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures
Modify and implement approved process or equipment improvements and corrective actions
Coordinate cross‑functionally with engineering, quality, and operations teams to support daily production schedules
Utilize Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) in day‑to‑day production activities
Support both production floor assembly and repair of returned subsystems and subassemblies as needed
Learn and gain proficiency in additional subsystems (minimum of 1–2) beyond primary assignments
Support troubleshooting efforts across assigned subsystems and related processes
Maintain accurate documentation for materials, parts used, processes, drawings, and concepts
Compile production and quality data to support reporting and decision‑making
Execute testing protocols, document results, and support manufacturing phase‑in of new products or changes
Identify safety concerns and assist with implementing corrective actions
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process studies
Operate within Kanban‑based production environments
Qualifications
Vocational training certificate, technical training, or Associate’s degree preferred, or equivalent hands‑on experience
Minimum of 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience
Required Experience & Skills
Experience supporting manufacturing operations within a regulated environment (medical device or complex electromechanical capital equipment)
Hands‑on experience with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) or equivalent regulated documentation standards
Electrical troubleshooting experience, including proper use of multimeters and oscilloscopes for diagnostics
Ability to perform multiple assembly and test operations while meeting quality, safety, and productivity standards
Demonstrated understanding of ESD/anti‑static principles and controls
Minimum of 4 years’ experience as an assembler, tester, or manufacturing associate in regulated electromechanical manufacturing
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross‑functionally
Willingness to learn, grow, and support evolving production needs
Ability to work overtime as required
Preferred Experience
Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ERP platforms, or PLM tools
Familiarity with systems such as SAP, QAD, Camstar, AGILE PLM, or Learning Management Systems
Work Schedule & Location
Monday–Friday schedule with start times ranging between early morning hours
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on production needs
On‑site role based in the Santa Clara area
