Job Title: Bilingual Housing Counseling Intake & Administrative Specialist (Triage)

Location: Kansas City, MO; in-office

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday – Friday

Position Summary

The Bilingual Housing Counseling Intake & Administrative Specialist serves as the first point of contact for clients seeking housing counseling services. This role is responsible for conducting client intake, performing initial triage, scheduling appointments, and providing administrative support to ensure clients are connected to the appropriate services. This position requires fluency in English and Spanish to effectively serve a diverse client population.

Key Responsibilities
Client Intake & Triage

Serve as the first point of contact for clients (phone, walk‑in, online) in English and Spanish

Conduct initial screenings to assess client needs (pre‑purchase, credit, rental, post‑purchase, foreclosure prevention)

Assign clients to the appropriate counselor or program

Explain services, program requirements, and next steps

Scheduling & Coordination

Schedule counseling appointments and workshops

Manage calendars and coordinate with counseling staff

Send appointment reminders and follow‑ups

Administrative Support

Assist clients with completing intake forms and required documentation

Ensure all documents are collected prior to counseling sessions

Maintain organized and compliant client files

Enter and update client data in internal systems (e.g., CMS/HMIS)

Client Communication

Provide clear instructions regarding documentation and preparation

Follow up with clients to ensure readiness for appointments

Share general information on housing programs and community resources

Compliance & Reporting Support

Support file compliance with HUD documentation standards

Track intake data and assist with reporting as needed

Required Qualifications

Fluency in English and Spanish

High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s preferred)

Experience in administrative support, intake coordination, or customer service

Strong organizational and multitasking skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Experience with technology and commitment to utilizing our systems

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in housing counseling, nonprofit, or social services

Familiarity with HUD programs or housing services

Experience working with low‑to‑moderate‑income populations

Compensation
Pay Range: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Opportunity for higher compensation based on relevant housing or program experience

Work Environment

Office‑based with regular client interaction

Fast‑paced environment requiring strong organizational skills

Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required
