Position Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The PTA implements treatment plans, supports patient progress, and helps patients regain mobility, function, and independence while maintaining compliance with all clinical and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide physical therapy treatments in accordance with the established plan of care and under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, functional mobility, gait training, balance activities, and use of assistive devices
Monitor patient response to treatment and report progress, concerns, or changes in condition to the Physical Therapist
Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, safety, and functional activities to support recovery and independence
Accurately document treatments, progress, and patient responses in a timely manner per facility and regulatory guidelines
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, patient-focused care
Comply with all federal, state, and facility regulations, including HIPAA and infection control standards
Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and respect in all patient interactions
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
Current Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing (state-specific)
Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or home health preferred (new graduates welcome to apply)
Strong clinical, communication, and time-management skillsAbility to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
