
Campus Bus Driver Mechanic - IDEA Yukon (26-27)

Overview
The Bus Driver Mechanic (CBDM) will provide basic level repairs/diagnostics to the campus bus fleet to ensure the availability of units in a safe operating condition meeting district, state and federal requirements, with guidance from the District Mechanic. The CBDM will also drive a school bus while ensuring the campus fleet is maintained in a safe operating condition.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation for this role is set at an hourly rate ranging between $22.89 for 0 years of experience and $26.27
This role is eligible for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment.

Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 1 year as a Diesel Mechanic (preferred)
License or Certification: Valid Class A or B Driver’s License with “P” and “S” endorsements, DOT Physical Examination, State Region Certification
Knowledge And Skills
Knowledge and Skills: One (1) year of experience within the diesel or automotive industry
Must be able to execute the following mechanic skills and duties:
PM inspections
Change lights
Basic electrical diagnostics, Power/Ground 2-wire circuits
Knowledge of proper fluid levels
Oil changes without supervision
Belt/hoses
Battery replacement
Replace Synovia parts
Computer literate (Service Finder, email, Excel)
Minor repairs: alternators, coolant reservoirs, brakes
Window tint (training on the job available)
Seat repairs (patch work, cover and foam replacement)
What You’ll Do – Accountabilities
Ensure the bus fleet is in good working condition and meets district, state and federal requirements
Ensure campus fleet is operational before transporting students
Campus Mechanics will seek advice from District Mechanic for minor repairs on school buses
Maintain accurate records of operation work orders
Maintain fleet in safe operating condition with a goal of 7% savings on maintenance costs over the previous year
Operate within the budget parameters set by the Campus Transportation Manager
Collaborate with the Transportation Manager and District Mechanic to have accurate inventory of all parts at the campus level
Maintain ongoing education and upgrades in diesel engines as provided by the District Mechanic
Lead and hold team members accountable for work performance
Maintain open communication with the Transportation Manager of campuses assisted
Communicate positively with coworkers and accept feedback from District Mechanic and Transportation Manager regarding proper handling of school buses
Manage multiple tasks by prioritizing work
Adapt to changing environments while performing various tasks and prioritizing work
Oversee multiple tasks simultaneously within established time constraints
Safely transports students: drives bus on schedule, maintains student discipline, conducts daily safety and operational inspections, and supervises loading/unloading with proper seat belts secured
