The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch is seeking qualified individuals for the position of

Victim Services Advocate . The qualified individual will perform a full range of tasks in providing information, assistance and advocacy to victims of crimes and their families.

Primary work location is New Haven Juvenile: may be required to travel to other court locations up to 3 days a week.

Primary work location is Bridgeport Juvenile; may be required to travel to other court locations up to 3 days a week.

Salary Range: $80,988 - $102,114/year – plus State of Connecticut benefits.

New employees begin at the minimum. The starting salary for existing state employees may be higher than the minimum, in accordance with existing Judicial Branch policy.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
General Experience: Six years of experience providing direct services to crime victims in crisis intervention, criminal justice, or a human services field.

Special Experience: One year of the General Experience must have included providing victim advocacy. Advocacy is defined as providing information and resources to victims and assisting them in accessing services and exercising their rights.

Substitutions Allowed

College training in criminal justice, social work, or a related field may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen semester hours equaling one-half year of experience to a maximum of four years for a Bachelor's degree.

A Master's degree in a human services or criminal justice related field or a law degree may be substituted for one additional year of the General Experience.

Special Requirements: Incumbents may be required to travel in the course of their daily work.
