Employment Summary
Position Summary: The vegetable entomology research laboratory conducts investigation into how pest insects affect vegetable productivity in Georgia and how to best control these pests.
Duties / Responsibilities
Rapidly identify and count small insects under stereo microscope magnification.
Assist with insect colonies.
Plant seeds/seedlings and other duties related to entomological research.
Process frozen or alcohol samples in scheduled time each week.
Check colonies and plants twice weekly.
Participate in weekly lab meetings to determine additional duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Be on time for the assigned times of work.
Physical Demands
Viewing through the stereo microscope for extended periods.
Lifting soil tubs and standard potting trays with full pots.
Driving.
Other Requirements
Non-Exempt, no P-Card required.
Position is not a position of trust.
Driving is a requirement.
