Overview

Opening is exclusively for current Alabama Department of Corrections (AL‑DOC) incumbent employees.
NaphCare is hiring a Behavioral Health Mid-Level to join our team of medical and mental health professionals at the Ventress Correctional Facility in Clayton, Alabama.
As a Behavioral Health Mid-Level, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical and mental health professionals to ensure regulatory compliance, manage budgets, supervise multidisciplinary clinical staff, and develop community partnerships to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care.
Responsibilities

Strategically plan, oversee operations, and provide clinical leadership of mental health and substance abuse programs within the facility.
Define department goals, develop policies, and oversee daily operations to improve mental health services.
Oversee treatment services, ensuring adherence to evidence‑based practices and high standards of care.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and investigate critical incidents and manage risks.
Direct recruitment, hiring, training, and performance evaluation of clinical staff (social workers, counselors, therapists).
Prepare, manage, and oversee the department budget and ensure financial viability.
Collaborate with medical, mental health, and correctional staff to enhance quality patient care while maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
Monitor compliance with site‑specific and company policies and procedures, taking corrective action, and ensure compliance with ACA and NCCHC standards.
Qualifications

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications / Skills
Education
A master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field.
Active, unrestricted licensure as a LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LMHP, LISW, or equivalent in Alabama.
Active BLS CPR certification (American Heart Association preferred).
Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in behavioral health, including clinical and administrative leadership, with correctional healthcare experience preferred.
Strong leadership, budgetary analysis, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Effective communication skills for building patient rapport and relaying treatment plans to other professionals.
Strong organizational skills for tracking patient treatment plans and progress notes.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information and adhere to a Code of Conduct and all facility policies.
Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
