Position Overview
This role plays a critical part in creating a positive patient experience by supporting front office operations in a healthcare setting. The Registration Specialist facilitates smooth patient flow from entry to destination while ensuring accurate demographic, financial data entry and insurance information is collected and entered. This position requires the ability to work independently, interact professionally with the public, and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Check patients in and out efficiently and professionally
Schedule appointments and manage front desk workflows
Facilitate patient flow throughout the department in a timely and accurate manner
Interview patients to obtain and verify demographic, financial, and insurance information
Answer incoming calls and direct patients and visitors appropriately
Maintain accurate records
Work independently while collaborating with a small, supportive team
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Front office experience in a medical or healthcare practice preferred
Experience with Cerner or Epic strongly preferred
Proficiency interacting with the public in a professional, customer-focused manner
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and clinical workflows preferred
Ability to learn and retain medical coding concepts, including ICD-10 and CPT coding
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED required
Relevant experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
