Warehouse Picker / Order Selector

The Warehouse Picker / Order Selector accurately selects, stacks, wraps, and stages customer orders using a warehouse management system in a multi-level rack storage environment. This role operates various forklifts and material-handling equipment in a -5 freezer while maintaining strict safety, quality, and productivity standards. The position works closely with the pick floor team and leadership to ensure orders are completed correctly, on time, and in full compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Operate at all times with safety and quality as the highest priorities, maintaining a safe work area and immediately reporting any unsafe conditions or actions.
Use warehouse management system (WMS) software to identify, locate, and select cases from multi-level rack storage to fill customer orders.
Organize, pull, pack, palletize, re-case, replenish, wrap, and label customer orders consistently and accurately according to established key performance indicators (KPIs).
Lift and handle cases repeatedly, with typical case weights averaging 35 pounds and up to 50 pounds.
Stack pallets and materials correctly, following inventory control instructions and warehouse layout guidelines.
Wrap completed pallets securely, label them accurately, and move them to the designated staging area in a timely manner.
Safely and efficiently operate forklifts equipped with forks or clamp attachments to move, load, and unload customer products.
Perform pre-operation inspections on forklifts and other equipment, completing inspection checklists before each shift or use.
Remove forklift batteries that require recharging, replace them with charged batteries, or connect them to the re-charger as needed.
Complete all required paperwork and electronic documentation accurately and on time.
Follow all company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements in daily work activities.
Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company and OSHA requirements.
Demonstrate working knowledge of company safety programs and actively contribute to a safe workplace.
Maintain regular, dependable attendance and consistently deliver a high level of performance.
Work effectively as part of a team, take direction from supervisors and leads, follow work rules, and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Essential Skills
Proven experience operating stand-up forklifts in a warehouse or similar environment.
Ability to work in a -5 degree freezer environment for extended periods of time.
Ability to repeatedly lift products weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand and perform physical tasks for approximately 8 hours per shift.
Successful completion of a forklift driving training program and demonstration of safe forklift handling in an on-site test.
High school diploma or equivalent education.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order selection, labeling, and documentation.
Reliability and strong work ethic, with a focus on long-term career growth rather than short-term employment.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, safety procedures, and standard operating procedures.
Capability to work collaboratively within a team-focused environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with order picking and order selection in a warehouse environment.
Hands-on experience with stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, and sit-down forklifts.
Background in material handling, general labor, packing, and packaging tasks.
Experience in shipping and receiving operations.
Familiarity with RF scanners for inventory and order management.
Comfort working in a high-volume, KPI-driven environment.
Demonstrated ability to stay energetic and engaged throughout the shift.
Interest in developing a long-term career path within warehousing and logistics.

Work Environment
This role is based in a -5 degree freezer warehouse environment that requires consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment. You work with warehouse management system (WMS) technology, RF scanners, and a variety of material-handling equipment, including stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, clamp trucks, and sit-down forklifts. The facility operates on multiple shifts with four current openings, including day and evening schedules such as 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., covering various weekday and weekend combinations. The work is physically active, involving standing for most of the shift, frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, and regular movement throughout a multi-level rack storage area. The environment is structured, safety-focused, and performance-driven, with clear procedures and standards guiding daily operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lebanon, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
