POSITION SUMMARY Mecklenburg County is looking for a Part-Time Recreation Assistant to join our Park & Recreation Team! The successful candidate will be required to oversee facility rentals, provide customer service, setup/breakdown of events, and assist with implementing hands-on programming administered to all ages throughout the year. The incumbent will be responsible for performing basic maintenance duties such as light cleaning, trash pick-up, and other duties as assigned. This position will be based at Methodist Home Recreation Center and work up to 19 hours per week, which will include late afternoons, evenings, and possible weekends depending on business/facility needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary
Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, web site, social media and walk in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals
Enforce rules and regulations
Collect fees and taking registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals
Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
Referee at various sports activities; provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper or line-person at games
Assist with various recreational programs for all ages
Handle inquiries and complaints from public
Assist with special events and field trips
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: No experience required.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Licenses and Certifications: Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License and County Driving Privileges; CPR/First Aid
Computer Skills: General knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite
