Automation Technician
PACIV, a global leader in industrial automation solutions servicing the Life Sciences sector, is looking for an Automation Technician to support the installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of automation systems in regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environments. This role ensures reliable, compliant, and efficient operation of manufacturing, utilities, and facility systems supporting production processes.
Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
Provide hands-on support for automation systems, utilities, and BMS (HVAC, central plant)
Install, test, and troubleshoot instrumentation and control devices
Perform I/O checks and verify field-to-controller/HMI connections
Support PLC and BMS updates under supervision following change control procedures
Troubleshoot industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, BACnet, etc.)
Execute commissioning activities (loop checks, functional testing, SAT support)
Maintain accurate documentation and follow safety and site procedures
Coordinate with Facilities, Operations, IT/OT, and vendors
Support maintenance, system startup, and troubleshooting activities
Requirements:
Technical diploma or associate degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or related field
5+ years of hands-on experience in automation or controls in manufacturing or utilities environments
Experience with PLCs (e.g., Rockwell/Allen-Bradley), HMIs, and BMS platforms
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols
Ability to read and interpret electrical and control drawings
Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Desired Hard Skills:
Experience in regulated environments (GMP/GxP)
Knowledge of system integration (SCADA, CMMS, energy management systems)
Basic understanding of OT networks and cybersecurity practices
Experience with HMI/BMS graphics and alarm management
Relevant technical certifications (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, etc.)
