Inventory Specialist

SageWest Health Care is located in Fremont County, Wyoming, encompassing two hospitals, one in Riverton and one in Lander. Each offers a wide range of healthcare services, including inpatient medical services, emergency room services, surgical services, imaging services, laboratory diagnostic services, primary care, infusion services, and women's health.
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking materials and equipment across the facility. This role ensures accurate inventory control, timely deliveries, and proper documentation of supply chain transactions. The Inventory Specialist also supports supply ordering and system entry processes in collaboration with warehouse and purchasing personnel.
Essential Functions
Maintains inventory levels for assigned departments and ensures proper stock rotation and accuracy.
Receives shipments from vendors and inspects condition of materials for discrepancies or damage.
Enters receipts, issues, and item updates into the inventory management system (e.g., SMART).
Delivers supplies and equipment to departments via scheduled and emergency requests.
Coordinates with warehouse personnel to ensure smooth receiving and delivery operations.
Fulfills supply requisitions and documents delivery times and costs.
Assists in item creation, description research, and product ordering in SMART and GHX.
Maintains and updates GHX ordering templates; trains staff on proper ordering procedures.
Communicates with departments regarding product availability and lead times.
Supports resolution of inventory discrepancies in collaboration with the Director, Buyers, and Accounting.
Searches for improved or cost-effective materials as appropriate.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
Basic knowledge of supply chain procedures, inventory tracking, and receiving processes.
Ability to lift and transport supplies safely and efficiently.
Proficient in the use of computers and inventory management systems.
Effective communication and customer service skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to reconcile inventory discrepancies.
Frequent standing, walking, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
Repetitive tasks and operation of carts, lifts, or hand trucks.
Visual and auditory acuity required for documentation and communication.
Warehouse and hospital environments with exposure to varied temperatures and potential biohazards.
Physical work with occasional mental stress due to time-sensitive deliveries or shortages.
Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Licenses/Certifications
Valid driver's license and current insurance required.
Experience
Prior warehouse or inventory control experience preferred.
Experience with materials management software (e.g., SMART, GHX) a plus.
