Billing Specialist (AR Follow-Up)

A growing healthcare organization is expanding its Revenue Cycle team due to new practice acquisitions and is seeking experienced Billing Specialists with strong Accounts Receivable and denial management experience.
Although the title is Billing Specialist, this role functions primarily as an AR Follow-Up Specialist focused on resolving denied claims, managing insurance follow-ups, and ensuring accurate reimbursement.
Candidates located near Southlake, TX will work a hybrid schedule (in office TuesdayThursday). Fully remote candidates may also be considered.
Key Responsibilities

Perform AR follow-up on denied and unpaid insurance claims
Research and resolve claim denials and rejections
Prepare and submit appeal letters
Review claims for accuracy prior to submission
Work primarily with professional (ProFee) physician claims
Manage approximately 50 accounts per day
Work with both commercial and government payors
Handle a patient population with a large Medicare volume
Collaborate with billing teams to confirm claim accuracy
Assist with denial management, posting, and some charge entry
Support overall revenue cycle functions as needed
Required Qualifications

At least 1 year of Retina billing experience
Strong understanding of J-codes, modifiers, and drug billing
Experience working insurance AR follow-up and denials
Knowledge of physician/professional billing (ProFee)
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Nextech or NextGen billing systems
Experience working with Medicare and Medicare plans
Work Environment

Hybrid schedule for local candidates (in office TuesdayThursday)
Remote candidates will also be considered

Approximately 50 accounts per day productivity expectation
Role focuses entirely on insurance-side billing (no patient payment plan discussions)
