Warehouse Position

Under direct supervision, this position receives, stores, tracks, and ships units in a warehouse environment.
Essential duties include the following:
Processes purchase requests for necessary approvals; creates purchase orders from the approved requests; consolidates purchase orders to get the best possible combination of vendor performance and benefit/cost; evaluates benefits and costs of blanket purchase orders, bulk buys, and outsourcing alternatives; contacts prospective vendors to determine whether parts are available and obtains quotes; negotiates any discrepancies, such as shortages or quality rejects; and assures tracking of receipts to accounts payable and authorization of payment.
Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Determines labeling requirements including but not limited to: Assemble and pack product containers, preparing and affixing shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information for cartons, skids or other storage devices in an accurate manner including any special labels that are customer required. Marks materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
Reads customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped.
Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
Loads/unloads trucks; performs check in/out of merchandise.

Performs shipping and receiving duties.
Assures tracking of receipts to accounts payable and authorization of payment.
Uses communications and computer systems that enable instantaneous, paperless transactions.
Moves materials and items from receiving or storage areas to other designated areas.
Pallet consolidation.
Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
Ensures work area is accessible and safe for employees and visitor traffic.
Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or relocates orders to a holding area.
Marks materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed via appropriate computer program.
Assists in counting of physical inventory.
Experience with Microsoft Excel is a must.
Prepares parcels for shipping.
Organizes work area for orderliness at all times.
Wears the proper safety equipment.
Other duties may be assigned as business needs dictate.
Displays a consistently positive, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous and professional attitude as an essential function of this position.
Willing to be trained and drive a forklift.
Marginal duties include the following:
Performs work area maintenance duties such as sweeping and dusting work area as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of business professional experience in the field. Must be able to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Job requirements: Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
Three months or more related experience and/or training;
Or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be computer literate. Good Excel skills. Database knowledge is a plus. Attention to detail. Dependable.
