
Document Control Specialist I

Job Title
Compile and maintain control records and related files to release blueprints, drawings, and engineering documents to Manufacturing and other operating departments.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Examine documents such as blueprints, drawings, change orders, and specifications to verify completeness and accuracy of data.
Ensure that any data files sent by electronic methods are protected and transmitted in accordance with corporate cyber security guidelines.
Post changes to computerized or manual control records, release documents, and notify affected departments.
Maintain Request for Engineering Assistance, Document Change Notice, Recall Control, New Inventory Part Number, and Document Request logs.
Maintain all Part Sheets per VLI processes.
Log and file all procedures, drawings, specifications and software created to manufacture products.
Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Vital Link International Standards Organization (ISO9000) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
ISO9000 Specific Duties
Be familiar with and understand Vital Link Quality Policy and company objectives.
Understand required ISO9000 specific Procedures and Work Instructions.
Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions.
Participate in Vital Link Continuous Improvement activities as appropriate.
Participate in ISO9000 training as required.
Cooperate with Auditors. Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or minimum 2 years' experience with engineering documentation; or combination of education and experience. Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred. Courses in mechanical drawing preferred. Experience using spreadsheets and Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands
Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Extended work hours and/or travel may occasionally be required.
