Forklift Operator

Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into railroad cars or trucks or storage facilities.
Operate and care for the forklift in a safe manner
Load and unload trailers, including sheet orders with or without pallets
Take finished product from the unitizer line and store in proper locations in the shipping department; this includes the shipping line in the corrugator. Scan all units into proper locations
Check units and load tags for accuracy; report any problems to supervision as they occur
Complete and document a forklift inspection form before the start of the shift and when operating a new forklift; turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs
Ensure that all units loaded on trailers for delivery have proper number of bands in proper locations, adequate cover sheets, adequate stretch wrap if necessary, and any other details which may affect the appearance or protection of the units
Locate stock before the start of the run
Deliver appropriate stock to appropriate machines
Remove finished goods from machines
Maintain, neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in storage areas
Maintain accurate location of stock in storage area by paperwork/computer
Transfer units manually in the computer
Look up history of unitized inventory
Hand unitizes units as necessary
Hand wrap units together as necessary
Complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner
Assist other forklift operators as necessary
Follow LOTO procedures
Notify supervision of needed repairs
Regular and timely attendance required.
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping
Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. SWR employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.
Additional duties may be assigned by management
High school diploma or GED.
Able to read, speak, write and comprehend basic English.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Good physical condition, i.e. able to lift 25-50# on a consistent basis.
Read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
Prior shipping forklift experience is required.
Prior work experience in the corrugated box industry.
To successfully perform the essential functions of this role it requires the ability to: stand occasionally, walk frequently, frequent use of hands (reach with hands and arms), view computer monitor, use telephone, speak and listen frequently. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will encounter noise level typical of that of an office with computers, phones, printers, and light traffic. May encounter frequent interruptions throughout the day. May be required to work in a confined area and sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
