Production Supervisor
Job Type: Direct HireSalary $65K to $75K Shift: 2nd and 3rd Shift We are working with an exceptional manufacturing client that is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead shop floor operations. This is a direct hire opportunity overseeing a large production team in a steel manufacturing environment.
About the Position
The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily operations to ensure production runs safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This role is hands on and shop floor focused, providing direct product and process support to employees each day. The supervisor drives safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and employee morale while maintaining production schedules and cost standards. This role is accountable for continuous improvement within the assigned department, including employee training and development. The supervisor plans and coordinates production activities on the assigned shift, ensures proper use of equipment, and applies effective production methods. The position oversees more than 30 direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise production operations to ensure safe, efficient, and timely output
Create and post daily production schedules and work assignments based on demand and employee strengths
Provide hands on product and process support on the shop floor
Lead safety, quality, delivery, and morale initiatives
Drive continuous improvement and employee development
Plan and coordinate all production activities on assigned shift
Ensure quality standards, proper material flow, and equipment care
Assign work to maximize employee skills and productivity
Improve plant productivity through lean manufacturing practices and employee involvement
Support implementation of stow system goals and objectives
Lead employee training sessions and tier meetings
Evaluate performance and coach employees on safety and efficiency
Reduce scrap and prevent shipment of sub standard product
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment using 5S and OPEX initiatives
Enforce company policies, work rules, and corrective actions as required
Oversee a team of 30 or more direct reports
Requirements
2 to 5 years of hands on experience in a steel fabrication or steel manufacturing environment
Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing steel environment
Proven experience applying lean manufacturing techniques
Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
Ability to perform well under pressure
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Demonstrated leadership, motivation, and supervisory capability
Strong sense of urgency and ability to manage shifting priorities
