Skilled and dependable welder to join our utility boring operations crew. In this role, you will be responsible for the welding of steel pipe casings ranging from 2 to 84 inches in diameter used in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and auger boring projects. You will work closely with field supervisors and crew members to ensure all welds meet project specifications, safety standards, and GDOT compliance requirements.
What You Bring to the Table
Perform structural and pipe welds on steel casings ranging from 2" to 84" in diameter for boring and underground utility installation projects
Prepare pipe casing ends for welding, including cutting, grinding, beveling, and fit-up prior to weld passes
Execute welds using processes required per GDOT specifications
Inspect completed welds for quality, alignment, and compliance with GDOT standards and project drawings
Operate and maintain welding equipment, grinders, torches, and associated tools in safe working order
What You Should Know
GDOT (Georgia Department of Transportation) Welding Certification
required; must be current and valid
ASWD1.1 Certification
required; must be current and valid
12 years of hands-on experience welding steel pipe casings or structural pipe in a construction or utility environment
Demonstrated proficiency with SMAW (stick) welding; FCAW or GMAW experience a plus
Ability to read and interpret weld symbols, project drawings, and specifications
Valid driver's license with reliable transportation to and from project sites; CDL is a plus
Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs., kneeling, bending, and working at ground level for extended periods
