Position Summary

The Security Network Operations Center (SNOC) Technician will help develop and maintain a secure, organized, and reliable production environment within the IT server room. The individual is part of a team responsible for monitoring and backing up of 60+ terabytes of disk storage across 500+ servers (Linux, Windows) using Veritas Netbackup, Veeam, HPE OpsRamp, Promox, and VMware vSphere.

The salary for this position begins at $54,479.00 and is commensurate with education and experience. This position is open only to applicants who

reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky , or who are able to perform work within one of these states. Sinclair Community College restricts employment to approved states due to employment, tax, and benefits compliance requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

Utilize HPE OpsRamp to monitor systems, services, network equipment, and UPSs
Develop custom policies, rules, and scripts to monitor systems and network services
Install and configure backup agents
Schedule, modify, monitor and verify backups for Linux and Windows servers
Restore VMs, files, including user drives, departmental shares as needed
Participate in installation, configuration and administration of disk backup/deduplication appliances providing disaster recovery and quick restores
Maintain the media library database and associated processes, including media management, maintenance, and offsite storage scheduling
Provide first level operation and maintenance (Linux and Windows) servers, including VoIP servers and networking equipment across all of Sinclair's campuses, developing procedures as needed
Maintain a secure physical environment which includes the monitoring and management of HVAC, security, and fire suppression systems on all campuses
Update and maintain the Server Configuration Management database for all Linux and Windows servers and services
Requirements

Minimum of an associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum of 2 years of work experience directly in the IT field required
Advanced current knowledge in the area of Information Technology hardware and applications software required
Experience with systems management and backup software required
Professional oral and written communication skills required
Ability to demonstrate a high level commitment to customer service, attention to detail, strong analytical/problem solving skills required
Entry level programming or scripting experience preferred
