Mobile Dental Unit Driver (PRN)

General Description
The Mobile Dental Unit Driver is responsible for the safe operation and transportation of a fully equipped mobile dental clinic to various community locations. This role supports the delivery of dental services by ensuring the vehicle is properly maintained, set up, and sanitized between patient visits. The Driver works collaboratively with the dental care team to promote efficient patient flow, uphold safety standards, and deliver a high-quality patient experience aligned with Premier Community HealthCare's mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safely operate the mobile dental unit in compliance with all traffic laws, organizational policies, and safety standards
Transport dental staff, equipment, and supplies to scheduled service locations in accordance with daily routes
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checks of fluid levels, tires, lights, and overall vehicle condition
Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to all transportation policies
Assist with setup and breakdown of the mobile dental unit, including positioning, equipment deployment, and utility connections as needed
Clean, disinfect, and sanitize the mobile unit following patient care, in accordance with infection control and safety protocols
Perform basic maintenance tasks such as restocking supplies and reporting mechanical issues promptly
Maintain accurate maintenance logs and coordinate routine service (oil changes, inspections, repairs) as required
Assist with inventory management by stocking necessary dental supplies and equipment
Report incidents, delays, or operational concerns to the Program Manager
Collaborate with dental and care team members to support efficient workflows and positive patient experiences
Ensure confidentiality and maintain HIPAA compliance at all times
Communicate effectively regarding any issues that may impact patient flow or service delivery
Participate in community outreach initiatives and support Premier's mission and values
Contribute to departmental goals and Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance (QI/QA) initiatives
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform minor vehicle maintenance tasks
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact compassionately with diverse populations
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented healthcare environment
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct
Ability to identify operational improvements and communicate recommendations to leadership
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding organizational values
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
One of the following:
Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL), OR
Minimum of one (1) year verifiable experience operating large vehicles and successful completion of a large vehicle driving course, OR
Current employee with demonstrated reliability who has successfully completed a large vehicle driving course
Valid Driver's License with at least five (5) years of driving experience
Acceptable driving record in accordance with Premier's transportation policy
Ability to complete and maintain required compliance training throughout employment
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. regularly and 3050 lbs. occasionally
Prolonged periods of sitting and driving
Frequent standing, bending, and movement during setup and breakdown of the mobile unit
Exposure to cleaning agents and potential infectious diseases
Direct exposure to computer screens and mobile equipment
