Job Title
Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Level II Inspector
The position will provide support for flexible metal piping products (bellows, expansion joints, hoses) being sold into the Aerospace and General Industries. The Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Level II Inspection team at American BOA is an inclusive, inter-disciplinary team that is committed to providing high quality inspections of flight components and production assemblies. The breadth of exposure as an NDE Level II Inspector is immense, as the organization is responsible for a broad range of inspection types across various space flight programs. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to perform internal and external weld inspections to ensure compliance to customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform volumetric NDE inspections with advanced radiographic techniques: Traditional analogue, computed, and direct digital camera systems
Perform near-surface NDE inspections using dye penetrant and visual inspection methods
Interpret, evaluate, communicate, and report findings to production and engineering teams
Interpret and review engineering drawings as required
Optimize and manipulate digital images for maximum clarity and accuracy
Support the development of NDE inspection techniques for complex geometries
Basic Qualifications and Work Experience
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
Non-Destructive Evaluation Level II certification in line with ASNT TC-1A/NAS-410 guidance in radiography (RT), dye penetrant (PT) and visual inspection (VT)
2+ years of experience as a Level II non-destructive evaluation/testing inspector/digital radiography
Experience with sheet metal forming, tube bending, and welding of stainless steels and nickel alloys strongly preferred
Preferred Skills & Experience
Radiation safety training/certification with IRRSP X-ray card
Knowledge of AMS, AWS/ASME, ASTM
Computed or direct digital certification
Operational experience of utilizing digital radiography systems
Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
Experience operating computed panels, scanners and direct digital panels
Experience inspecting advanced materials such as high strength aluminum alloys, precipitation hardened steels, inconel, titanium and maraging steel (super alloys)
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Good organization skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize with minimal supervision
Work Environment
Working conditions are metal and welding production environment.
Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, lifting of objects up to 25lbs.
Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet critical deadlines
Travel
Travel requirements are minimal.
Work Authorizations
Must be a US citizen or have requisite work authorization
