Systems Security Engineer

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Systems Security Engineer in Fullerton, California for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This onsite position supports systems security engineering efforts focused on protecting embedded weapons systems through cybersecurity, software assurance, and supply chain risk management. The role contributes to program protection, RMF compliance, secure system configuration, and analysis activities that support mission-critical defense technologies.

Required Skills

Bachelor's degree in STEM preferred
5 years of relevant experience
Active Secret clearance required prior to start
Experience in systems security engineering, computer technology reverse engineering, cybersecurity, or embedded security
Experience generating system requirements, design and architecture artifacts, plans, and policies
Experience supporting Risk Management Framework documentation for Authority to Operate accreditation
Experience analyzing cybersecurity data and test results
Experience validating secure configurations for routers, switches, firewalls, servers, operating systems, applications, and other assets
Experience using DoD-approved scanning and assessment tools such as Nessus, STIG, Evaluate STIG, or RADIX
Experience supporting compliance with NIST RMF controls
Ability to create patch artifacts such as patch media and information assurance posture reports
U.S. citizenship required

Cyber certifications aligned with DoDD 8570 or DoDD 8140, such as CISSP, GSLC, or CEH
Linux Bash or Python scripting experience
What You'll Do

Support implementation of systems security engineering solutions into products
Support development of RMF documentation for ATO accreditation
Analyze cybersecurity data and test results
Validate secure system configurations across network, server, operating system, and application assets
Use approved assessment tools to evaluate security posture and compliance
Support compliance with NIST RMF controls
Create patch-related artifacts and information assurance posture reports
Contribute to protecting embedded defense technologies through cybersecurity-focused engineering support
