Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C. (RE&LS) is accepting resumes for a highly motivated Instrument Person / Survey Technician based out of our Rochester, NY office.
Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C. is a Rochester, NY-based consulting engineering firm specializing in providing state-of-the-art structural, transportation, land surveying, environmental, and geotechnical engineering services, committed to providing technically sound solutions to our clients that include state, municipal, and private organizations.
The Instrument Person / Survey Technician supports a broad range of land surveying and related services for municipal and private clients. This role requires high integrity and excellent attention to detail to conduct assigned tasks in accordance with highest professional standards and company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up, adjust and operate various surveying instruments such as total stations, data collectors, levels, laser scanners and GPS equipment in the completion of topographic, boundary, utility, and control surveying
Perform manual labor, such as cutting brush for lines, carrying stakes, rebar, and other heavy items
Compile field notes, make sketches, and enter data into data collectors and computers
Maintain and clean surveying equipment and vehicles, ensuring the proper equipment and materials needed for the days’ projects are loaded into vehicle
Assisting the crew’s Party Chief with other various tasks
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be detailed oriented, with effective written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrates knowledge of surveying concepts and methodologies
Willingness to work occasional overtime, and able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions
Must be available for overnight travel, sometimes for extended periods
Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Associates Degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or Technical Degree, or higher, with a focus on Surveying preferred.
COMPENSATION:
Competitive Salary $55,000 - $95,000
