Role Summary – Exterior Trim Engineer
This is a
100% onsite role in Newark, California
focused on designing and launching
vehicle exterior trim systems . You’ll work on both
styling and functional engineering , collaborating closely with cross-functional automotive teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead or contribute to
design, packaging, release, and launch
of exterior trim components
Develop systems with focus on
quality, durability, cost, and weight efficiency
Collaborate with
design studios + vehicle engineering teams
Use advanced engineering tools and contribute to
innovative system development
Core Requirements
2+ years experience
in exterior trim design (automotive)
Hands-on work in areas like:
Side valences, sill trims
Underbody shields
Wheelhouse liners
Spoilers / appliques
Rocker panels, frunk components
Strong CAD skills (preferably **CATIA V5 or CATIA V6)
Knowledge of:
Thermoplastics / thermoset materials
Class A surface manufacturing & painting
Exposure to
product launch cycles
Nice-to-Have (Stronger Candidates)
~5+ years experience in:
Plastics design, aero, crash structures
Lighting integration, tooling, fit & finish
Gap & flush, thermal expansion
Strong
3D problem-solving and creative engineering mindset
Team collaboration and communication skills
