Position Duties
Reporting to the Head of Product Operations, the Jr. Operator’s duties are as follows:
Ensure seamless operational execution of physical transactions in accordance with contractual terms, including scheduling, nominations, and logistics coordination.
Handle nomination of shipping agents, appointment of inspectors for cargo operations and ROB surveys, issuance of LOIs to vessel owners, coordination with terminals for vessel berthing, and management of claims including demurrage, dead freight, cargo shortages, and ROB disputes.
Drive operational optimization of cargo movements and storage utilization in close coordination with trading and planning teams to maximize value realization.
Proactively manage vessel scheduling, terminal nominations, and logistics to minimize demurrage exposure and avoid operational inefficiencies.
Maintain close and continuous coordination with counterparties, terminals, inspectors, and vessel operators to ensure timely and compliant execution of all activities.
Oversee product accounting, including reconciliation of quantities, monitoring of ocean losses, and inventory control across third-party storage terminals.
Publish MIS reports and manage databases in line with management requirements.
Back-up relief for NYH and MD Operators, responsibilities include the following:
Oversee physical petroleum operations, including logistics coordination for marine vessel movements, New York Harbor barge scheduling, pipeline scheduling and butane railcar operations.
Support terminal operations by scheduling and executing product movements, managing inventories, and preparing daily operational reports.
Manage operations administration, including recordkeeping, regulatory and tax reporting, EPA and customs/demurrage documentation, reconciliation activities, and maintenance of daily inventory logs.
Collaborate closely with trading and back-office teams to ensure accurate inventory balances across all storage and inventory locations.
Assist back office with customer deal invoicing support, monthly reconciliations, and closing activities by providing required reports, statements, and supporting documentation for billing and payments.
Contribute to the optimization of transportation and storage assets through intraday scheduling, real-time operational updates and proactive issue resolution.
Develop, refine and implement internal and external processes related to scheduling, logistics and operational workflows.
Provide deals desk support, including data validation, coordination with commercial teams, and ensuring operational accuracy for executed transactions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred

1+ year of industry experience.

Proficient in Excel
·

Highly motivated individual with ability to work in fast paced environment, with strict and extremely time sensitive deadlines
