Job Summary
The Epic Operational Database Administrator (ODBA) is responsible for the administration, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of Epic IRIS databases to ensure data integrity, system stability, security, and high performance across all Epic environments. This role works closely with application teams, developers, system administrators, and infrastructure teams to support Epic operations, upgrades, and optimization initiatives in a healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform core

Epic database administration

functions, including monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of

IRIS databases

Support Epic upgrades, environment refreshes, and routine system health checks

Manage database performance, security, and data integrity across multiple Epic environments (Production, Test, Training, etc.)

Collaborate with Epic application teams and technical partners to quickly resolve system and performance issues

Execute, document, and follow standard change management procedures

Provide proactive recommendations to improve performance, reliability, and environment stability

Test, validate, and document disaster recovery and business continuity procedures

Maintain accurate operational documentation and runbooks

Required Qualifications

Epic Operational Database Administration (ODBA) Certification (required)

Bachelor's degree or 5-7 years of equivalent professional experience

Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience as an Epic Database Administrator in a healthcare IT environment

Strong experience supporting large-scale Epic production environments

Technical Skills

Strong Linux/Unix administration skills

Proficiency in shell scripting

Experience using command-line tools and utilities such as awk, sed, and Perl

Knowledge of Epic IRIS database architecture and administration

Experience with Epic ECP (Enterprise Cache Protocol) is a plus, but not required
