Opportunity: VP Global Business Services (GBS) Excellence
The Global Business Services (GBS) team helps drive BD forward by seeking out and implementing innovative ways to operate effectively and efficiently.

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative VP, GBS Excellence. Reporting to the VP, Global Business Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving GBS Strategy, Service Lifecycle, GBS Excellence operating system and for managing resource pools of Program Management, Focused Improvement, Process Excellence and Intelligent Automation Specialists.

The GBS Excellence organization ensures that all GBS services are delivered consistently, that best practices are developed and applied across all GBS teams, and that GBS stays tightly connected to all other BD Strong Teams.

Regional and functional program portfolios will be consolidated and managed, ensuring constraints and challenges are appropriately handled. The VP, GBS Excellence will own the GBS Playbook ensuring that BD’s GBS Operating Model creates and follows industry best practice.

Role location: Hybrid, based in either Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, US or Eysins, Switzerland. Hybrid at BD is 4 days per week. Relocation assistance provided where applicable.

Key Responsibilities
Service Lifecycle Management

Lead the GBS Annual Strategic Review (ASR) process, aligning GBS strategy to the BD business strategy.

Co-create GBS opportunity pipeline with Function, Region and BU teams.

Develop, maintain and deploy the BD Excellence playbook for Global Business Services.

Ensure consistency in the Performance Measurement framework applied to all GBS services.

Monitor GBS service performance and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure targets are aligned, updated, achieved and reported.

Define and deploy a consistent Governance framework throughout GBS.

Act as the chief practitioner for Service Experience Design and establish standards/practices to be used consistently across GBS.

Lean Six Sigma Focused Improvement (FI)

Ensure Lean Six Sigma (FI) knowledge, practices and capabilities are maintained in GBS.

Manage the FI Resource Pool and ensure that they are appropriately assigned to Projects and Products of significance.

Connect GBS Excellence team to the larger BD Excellence Community of Practice.

Process Excellence (PE)

Develop and execute a robust Process Excellence (Focused Improvement & Transformation) pipeline that will meet or exceed committed targets.

Ensure Process Excellence knowledge, practices and capabilities are maintained in GBS.

Manage the Process Excellence Resource Pool and ensure that they are appropriately assigned to Projects and Products of significance.

Connect GBS Excellence team to the larger BD Excellence Community of Practice.

Intelligent Automation

Ensure Intelligent Automation (AI/ML/RPA, etc.) Analyst knowledge, practices and capabilities are maintained in GBS.

Manage the IA Resource Pool and ensure that they are appropriately assigned to Projects and Products of significance.

Partner with the TGS Digital team to develop, test, scale and embed Digital and Data products in BD.

Connect GBS Excellence team to the larger Digital Community of Practice.

Enterprise Program and Project Management (EPPM)

Ensure Program, Project and Product Management knowledge, practices and capabilities are maintained in GBS.

Manage the EPPM Resource Pool and ensure that they are appropriately assigned to Projects and Products of significance.

Consolidate and Manage Regional and Functional Program Portfolios, ensuring constraints and challenges are appropriately managed.

Qualifications and Skills

Deep expertise in running GBS Operations (progressive experience including 10+ years in a GBS Senior Leadership Role).

Lean / Six Sigma expertise (Lean Master, Black Belt, etc.)

Ability to collaborate and navigate through all levels of the organization to influence significant outcomes.

Strong experience delivering superior client and customer outcomes.

Proven ability to deliver impact across a large organization through the consistent implementation of a common operating system.

A global, customer-first mindset with strong business acumen.

Excellent leadership skills, with a track record of managing and inspiring teams.

A collaborative, can-do mentality, with the ability to drive change management initiatives.

Proven ability to manage teams comprised of both internal and vendor resources.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.

Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in Global Business Services.

Advanced Lean, VSM and/or Six Sigma qualification.
