Essential Functions

Responsible for the technical, clinical, and operational aspects; responsible for ensuring effective, efficient and highest quality operations in Pathology through Program development and enhancement, Sponsorship and leadership of continuous improvement efforts, and Coordination and integration of operations with other departmental or hospital-wide groups.

-Develop and maintain a full and deep understanding of national regulatory standards and compliance regulations.

-Maximize departmental quality improvement efforts, ensuring that initiatives support improvement of operational costs and hospital-wide Operations Improvement initiatives.

-Develop and improve work environment for Pathology professional clinical practice.

-Evaluate current systems (technological, paper flow and human resource deployment) to direct operational focus on team problem solving efforts.

-Develop, negotiate and monitor budgets and resource allocations for the laboratories.

-Support excellence in service standards.**Qualifications**Education

Bachelor's Degree Laboratory Sciences required or Master's Degree Business Administration preferred

Licenses and Credentials

Medical Technologist (ASCP) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred

Experience

laboratory management, project management or healthcare operations experience 5-7 years required supervisory experience 3-5 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Understanding of Laboratory Information Management (LIS) systems.

- Knowledgeable and experienced in pathology laboratory operations or healthcare operations with an emphasis on production.

- Knowledge of current regulatory and accreditation policies, principles of quality control practices, standard laboratory practice and techniques, and safety and infection control policy.

- Knowledgeable and comfortable with the principles and tools of continuous improvement, as it applies to operations, service, and quality and safety.

- Must have a reasonable working familiarity with healthcare information systems, such as patient electronic medical records and other hospital-based programs.
