JOB PURPOSE
Leads the successful delivery of large, complex nuclear projects and services in the United States, with full accountability for safety, quality, cost, and schedule, while supporting business growth through customer engagement and effective project execution.
JOB STRUCTURE & COMMUNICATIONS
This role reports to the Executive Vice President, Projects & Field Services.
The position leads multidisciplinary project teams, including project managers, construction managers, engineers, project controls, and subcontractors, and provides mentorship to developing project managers.
Interfacing regularly with internal leadership across BWXT and BWXT-Kinectrics, utility customers, EPC partners, OEMs, suppliers, regulatory and industry stakeholders.
Communication involves influencing, negotiation, and resolution of complex technical and commercial matters with senior internal and external stakeholders.
Operates with a high degree of autonomy in managing project execution, including planning, resource coordination, financial performance, and customer interface, within established governance frameworks.
Requires regular domestic and international travel to support project execution, customer engagement, and global program coordination.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Accountability 1: Delivery of large, complex nuclear projects and services
Outcome: Projects are delivered safely, compliantly, on schedule, and within budget, meeting contractual and customer requirements.
Lead all phases of project execution including proposal, planning, execution, and closeout
Direct technical, cost, schedule, and quality performance across project scopes
Ensure compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements, safety standards, and BWXT governance processes
Monitor and manage project performance, including schedule and cost metrics
Accountability 2: Financial and commercial performance of assigned projects
Outcome: Projects achieve targeted financial results, with effective management of contracts, risks, and changes.
Develop project execution strategies that support cost effectiveness and margin improvement
Lead proposal development, including pricing strategy and commercial positioning
Negotiate contract terms, changes, and claims with customers and subcontractors
Manage project billing, cost control, and financial forecasting
Accountability 3: Leadership of high-performing project teams
Outcome: Project teams are aligned, capable, and accountable for achieving project objectives.
Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, construction, and project controls
Set clear expectations, provide direction, and foster accountability and performance
Mentor and support development of project management staff
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence
Accountability 4: Customer relationship management and stakeholder engagement
Outcome: Strong, effective relationships that support successful project delivery and future opportunities.
Serve as primary point of contact for customers on project-related matters
Engage with customer stakeholders to align on requirements, resolve issues, and manage expectations
Influence and negotiate complex technical and commercial matters
Support business development efforts through ongoing customer engagement
Accountability 5: Management of project risk, change, and complexity
Outcome: Risks are proactively managed, and project changes are controlled to protect project outcomes.
Identify, assess, and manage project risks and opportunities
Lead change management processes, including scope, schedule, and cost impacts
Manage complex contract changes, claims, and non-conformances
Implement corrective actions to address performance gaps
Accountability 6: Contribution to continuous improvement and program alignment
Outcome: Project delivery practices are consistent, efficient, and aligned with organizational standards.
Apply established project management methodologies, tools, and governance practices
Contribute to the refinement of program management processes and reporting frameworks
Support alignment with global project practices and knowledge sharing across regions
Identify and implement improvements to enhance project performance and efficiency
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related technical discipline required
15+ years of experience in the nuclear industry required
Demonstrated experience leading large, complex nuclear projects or construction programs
Technical and Professional Knowledge
Strong knowledge of nuclear project execution, construction management, and project controls
Understanding of nuclear regulations, licensing requirements, and applicable codes and standards
Experience with contract management, procurement, and supply chain practices in nuclear environments
Knowledge of risk management, change management, and project governance processes
Leadership and Business Knowledge
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in complex, high-risk environments
Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Experience supporting proposal development and customer engagement
Preferred / Asset Experience
Experience with new-build nuclear projects (e.g., AP1000)
Experience in field services, outage support, or plant modifications
Experience working with EPCs, utilities, and Owner’s Engineer environments
International project exposure

Pay: $169,000 - $238,000 per year. The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US‑TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $169,000 and $238,000 per year. The total compensation package may also include an annual cash incentive and a full range of medical, retirement, and other benefits. The offer may be subject to adjustment based on local job market factors and individual qualifications.
