We believe our people are our greatest strength, which is why we foster a collaborative, ethical, and resident-focused culture where every team member has the tools and training to succeed.Position SummaryThe Staff Accountant performs daily financial tasks, ensuring accuracy by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, managing AP/AR, and assisting with financial reporting (balance sheets, income statements) for month/year-end closes, budgeting, and audits, reporting to the Controller.
The ideal candidate is meticulous and detail-oriented, possessing strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data accurately, combined with excellent communication for clear reporting.
Key traits also include high professional integrity, organization, time management, and adaptability to new technologies, alongside fundamental technical accounting knowledge and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.Key ResponsibilitiesAbility to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skillsDemonstrate ability to understand financial goals and operate asset in owners' best interestWork in compliance with the company's financial policies and proceduresPrepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for owners, investors, and lendersDetermine & prepare monthly expense accrualsEvaluate weekly cash analysis to determine payment of billsMonitor bank account activityPrepare bank reconciliations properly & on timeEnsure that debt payments and utilities are made on a timely basisPrepare and follow through on reserve draw requests and receiptCalculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to managementAssist owners' CPAs in establishing balance sheet account balances for newly acquired propertiesAssemble information for external auditors for selected propertiesWork with owners' CPAs to provide any necessary documentationPrepare lender-required paperwork for periodic audits GeneralMust be able to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect pertinent data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and initiate appropriate course of action.
Must effectively convey ideas, images and goals to a diverse group of personalities.Must work well with OperationsRepresent the company in a professional manner and be able to communicate with clients in a professional mannerPerforms any additional duties or tasks as assigned by senior management QualificationsBachelor's degree in AccountingAt least 5 years of accounting experience with minimum of 2 year of Real Estate Accounting Experience; Multifamily preferredSkilled in use of computer and software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and accounting systems.Experience with Real Page One Site preferred.Adaptable: ability to change direction and focus without a lot of notice.Communication: balancing listening and talking, speaking and writing clearly and accurately, influencing others, keeping others informed.Service Focus: must possess a positive attitudeDetail Oriented: ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness.Results focus: ability to overcome obstacles to get things done, ability to prioritize.In Office Attendance Required Work Environment Ability to sit, review documents, and work extensively at a computer for extended periods.
