Job Description
The teacher’s role is to facilitate student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing the district‑approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, addressing specific educational needs by providing a safe and optimal learning environment, and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
Responsibilities include:
Advising parents and/or legal guardians about student progress and supporting classroom goals.
Assessing student progress, expectations, and goals to provide feedback.
Assisting other teachers with curriculum implementation.
Collaborating with school personnel, parents, and community agencies to improve student outcomes, develop solutions, and plan curriculum.
Demonstrating required teaching methods to provide an effective school program and address individual student needs.
Directing student workers and volunteers to maximize efficiency and meet work requirements.
Facilitating student learning to achieve academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through a defined course of study.
Monitoring student activities (e.g., classroom, lunch, grounds) to ensure safety and welfare.
Participating in meetings to convey and gather necessary information for duties.
Performing other related duties assigned by the supervisor to ensure efficient unit functioning.
Preparing teaching materials and related reports (grades, attendance, anecdotal records) for lesson implementation and documentation of progress.
Reporting incidents such as fights, suspected child abuse, or substance abuse to maintain safety, create a positive learning environment, and adhere to Education Code and school policies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and appropriate certification through the Georgia Professsional Standards Commission.
Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
