Overview Adjunct Faculty - Music. Part-time faculty paid per credit hour; rate determined by assigned rank and discipline taught. Assigned rank is based on education and teaching experience.
Responsibilities Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.
Essential Functions Meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports; teach prescribed courses with established texts; adhere to professional ethics in accordance with college policies, procedures, and regulations.
Must reside in the (DMV) area.
Qualifications KSA/Required Qualifications Ability to work with a diverse population
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent analytical skills
Excellent oral/written communication skills
Ability to use instructional technology
Required Qualifications Master’s degree in the teaching field or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the teaching field. Qualifying degrees and coursework must be awarded by and/or completed with a regionally accredited institution.
Additional Considerations Prior experience teaching in higher education
Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats

Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency
