Akima Intra-Data is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to support environmental operations at Arnold Air Force Base. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental regulations through audits, data analysis, and technical reporting. The specialist will work closely with engineering, operations, and safety teams to monitor environmental performance, support regulatory compliance programs, and assist with environmental initiatives across the installation.
This role requires strong analytical abilities, technical writing skills, and a solid understanding of environmental regulations including the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and Title V permitting requirements.
Responsibilities
Conduct routine environmental audits, field inspections, and compliance assessments to identify potential regulatory issues and support corrective actions.
Track and analyze operational data, laboratory results, and environmental metrics to identify trends and ensure regulatory compliance.
Prepare technical reports, regulatory submissions, and site-specific compliance plans using clear and accurate technical writing.
Coordinate environmental sampling programs and assist with water, air, and waste monitoring activities.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, safety, and environmental teams to implement sustainable practices and corrective measures.
Review inspection reports and regulatory correspondence; coordinate with operations staff to address deficiencies.
Assist with development and maintenance of Environmental Management System (EMS) documentation and procedures.
Monitor regulatory changes and maintain current knowledge of environmental laws including RCRA, NEPA, CAA, CWA, and Title V permitting.
Support communications with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and government customers regarding environmental compliance matters.
Assist with preparation of permit applications, public notices, and regulatory response documents.
Monitor and document corrective actions related to environmental incidents or compliance findings.
Perform additional duties as required to support team and organizational goals.
Qualifications
US citizenship.
2-4 Years relevant experience in operating permits under Title V Clean Air Act.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
Demonstrated experience with technical writing and regulatory documentation.
Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
Able to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance.
