AFT PD Trainer must attend Summer Educator Academy July 9-14 2026 for train‑the‑trainer preparation. Training and travel is paid for by NEA and ATPPS. This comprehensive and intensive training institute prepares educators to return to their locals as facilitators. The description of the content for the course and additional required virtual meetings are listed below. Managing Behavior in School Communities is scheduled to run in Princeton Public Schools during the 2026-2027 school year. Trainers will identify training dates.
Course Overview
This 40‑hour train‑the‑trainer course provides effective strategies for managing challenging behavior across a variety of school settings, examines root causes, and integrates trauma‑informed, restorative practices, and personal/professional balance. It offers two hours of graduate credit through Trinity Washington University. The course may be accessed virtually with a live trainer or via synchronous/asynchronous learning. Grade level K‑12.
Pre‑Virtual Instructional Dates
June 11, 18 – 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. EDT
June 30 – 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. EDT
Post‑Virtual Follow‑up
Aug. 6 – 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. EDT
Aug. 20 – 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. EDT
Sept. 10 – 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. EDT
Qualifications for AFT PD Trainer
Member of PEA
Full dues‑paying member of the PEA
Personal commitment to district improvement
Demonstrated proficiency in classroom management, instructional methods, curriculum, and assessments
Ability to build and maintain trust with peers
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Positive leadership skills
Responsibilities of AFT PD Trainer in Princeton Public Schools
Connect AFT PD training to the Princeton Paradigm
Participate in state AFT PD conferences and training
Participate in AFT PD schedule planning
Coordinate with partnering university for course credit (at least one trainer per course)
Track hours and assignment completion for staff working toward Princeton Credits
Complete National AFT PD Course training (travel, lodging, and food are covered; no stipend will be paid for the training)
